According to a recent report from Sunday Mirror, Leicester City are weighing up a move for Brentford star Ivan Toney.
Toney has been on fire in the Championship this season, serving as the country’s top goalscorer across all league competitions. He has been the major shining light for the Bees’ revived promotion push, and while he may not be around beyond the summer to see them in the Premier League if they do in fact go up, you can bet they’ll be grateful for his work.
For Leicester, they seem to be using this idea as a way to plan for the future. Jamie Vardy isn’t going to be around forever and when he eventually goes into a decline and is no longer a first choice striker for the club, the Foxes want Toney to take the mantle.
Whether or not that comes to fruition in these increasingly unpredictable times, though, remains to be seen.
