Man Utd star eyed up by Spurs goes to Solskjaer with serious exit ultimatum

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has spoken directly to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about concerns over his game time, a report claims.

The 23-year-old has only started two games in the Premier League this season. Overall, meanwhile, he has made 12 outings including in the Champions League and domestic cups.

But concerns over No. 1 David de Gea‘s form add another layer to Henderson’s issues. The Spaniard has made errors in recent weeks, with his form generally dropping since the 2018 World Cup.

As such, the Manchester Evening News reports that Henderson has issued an ultimatum to Solskjaer.

The Englishman has told his manager that he will look to leave Old Trafford this summer if he does not become the club’s first-choice stopper.

The newspaper adds that he has become ‘frustrated’ at his lack of action.

Henderson arrived back from a loan at Sheffield United earlier this year and made the bold decision to stay at his parent club in the belief that he would earn significant game time.

However, that has not happened and he has now made a firm call over his future.

What’s more, the Manchester Evening News claims that Tottenham are among the Premier League sides pondering a swoop for the goalkeeper.

Spurs could sell 34-year-old stopper Hugo Lloris, whose contract expires next summer. As such, they would be looking for a new No. 1, with Henderson proving his Premier League credentials last season.

West Ham have also ‘expressed an interest’, with Lukasz Fabianski’s deal expiring at the end of June.

Chelsea, meanwhile, still have concerns about their goalkeeping situation. Indeed, Thomas Tuchel has started both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy in the top flight.

Henderson would not come cheap

In any case, the newspaper adds that a transfer for Henderson across England would not come cheap.

His contract only runs out in the summer of 2025 and United value him at around £40million. Furthermore, the Premier League sides who are keen have been hit by the cost of the pandemic.

‘Senior figures’ at Old Trafford reportedly feel they are ‘compromised’ by De Gea’s ranking as the club’s biggest earner on £375,000 per week.

Reports have claimed that United are considering a swoop for an AC Milan star as De Gea’s replacement.
