Hayley Ladd signs new Man Utd contract until 2023

Manchester United have agreed a new contract with influential midfielder Hayley Ladd until the summer of 2023, with the option of a further year until 2024.

Ladd was one of United’s first new signings following promotion to the Women’s Super League for the first time in 2019 and has arguably been one of the main reasons the club has so quickly been able to challenge for the title alongside the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.

The 27-year-old Wales international, who had previously played in the WSL for Birmingham and Bristol City, leads United in WSL assists this season with four to her name so far.

Ladd is the latest United player to commit her future to the club since the end of last season, with Ella Toone, Millie Turner, Kirsty Hanson and Leah Galton all signing new deals in recent months.

Ladd told ManUtd.com that she is ‘so happy’ to be pledging her future to the club.

“To be a part of this squad is really special and I’m really enjoying my time here. When I first came to United, I knew I would be part of an ambitious group of players and staff and that mindset has only grown stronger over the last couple of years,” she explained.

“We have an exciting time ahead of us and I know that if we continue to put the work in, day in, day out, then we can achieve our goals.

United boss Casey Stoney remarked: “Hayley is an important player for us, and I’m pleased to see her signing a new contract at the club. Her style of play brings a calmness to our midfield and the relationship she has on the pitch with the players around her is invaluable.

“Hayley is also a great character who works very hard and is always willing to learn and improve in everything she does. It’s fantastic to see her continue her journey with the club.”
