LaLiga club set wheels in motion for £55m Liverpool transfer after learning Klopp plan

Sevilla are keen for Liverpool to trigger Lucas Ocampos’ £55million release clause amid the prospect of a tidy profit, according to a report.

Speculation last weekend claimed that the Reds have shown interest in the winger ahead of a potential swoop.

What’s more, Jurgen Klopp’s side could reportedly include Takumi Minamino in the deal; the Japan international left Anfield on January’s deadline day after struggling for game time.

But regardless of Minamino’s potential involvement, El Intransigente claims that Liverpool’s interest is genuine.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly earmarked Ocampos as the man he wants to further bolster his attack.

As such, Sevilla chiefs have begun to ‘open their eyes’ over the prospect of bringing in a big profit for the player.

The LaLiga club signed Ocampos for €15million (£12.8million, via Goal) in summer 2019 from Marseille. As such, selling him for his €65million (£55.7million) release clause would present a tidy piece of business.

Sevilla would do well to keep hold of the forward, but are aware of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on their finances.

Therefore, they are willing Liverpool to come forward with a firm offer. For now, though, the Reds’ interest remains in its infancy.

What’s more, Ocampos himself has green-lighted the move and is willing to make the Anfield switch.

El Intransigente adds that Ocampos’ former club River Plate are also keen for Liverpool to firm up their interest.

The Argentine club will receive 3.5 per cent of any future transfer fees for the player who came through their youth ranks, before moving to Europe in 2012.

Monaco was Ocampos’ first destination in Europe, before he signed for Marseille.

From there, he spent time on loan at Genoa and AC Milan. This season, he has scored seven goals and assisted four others in 31 games.
