N’Golo Kante reveals he hasn’t discussed PSG snub with Thomas Tuchel

When a new manager arrives at a club, you can imagine there’s a few awkward glances as the players meet their new boss for the first time.

Disputes and interactions the players have had with their new boss during his time at a previous club suddenly come flooding back, so it’s probably best to get everything out in the open and avoid any embarrassing chats in the future – unless you’re N’Golo Kante.

It’s fair to say the Chelsea midfielder’s head will have been well and truly buried in his tracksuit top the day Thomas Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge, following his admission that he rejected the chance to work with the German tactician when he was manager of Paris Saint-Germain.

And to make matters even worse, the Frenchman hasn’t even mentioned the snub to his new boss. Awkward.

Since being appointed Chelsea manager, Tuchel has touched on the subject of his pursuit of Kante during his time at Parc des Princes, and the midfielder has admitted he knew of the interest from the Ligue 1 side, though he’s yet to broach the subject with his new boss.

“I knew in the past there was some contact with Paris Saint-Germain when he was the manager, but it was not something I wanted,” he told the club’s official website

“It did not happen because I was happy at Chelsea and I stayed here. I haven’t spoken to the manager about it.”

Many questioned whether Kante’s time at Stamford Bridge may have been coming to an end following Tuchel’s arrival, with the France international restricted to just 51 minutes of football in the German’s first five Premier League games in charge.

However, Kante has played the full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s previous two league outings and seems to feature heavily in Tuchel’s future plans.

Anyone feel like those first few games were just the Chelsea boss’ way of giving him a sly dig in the arm for turning him down? No, probably not.
