Manchester United have stepped up their bid to sign one of European football’s top midfield talents, while Friday’s Euro Paper Talk claims PSG have lined-up Kylian Mbappe’s replacement.
UNITED FRONTRUNNERS FOR MIDFIELD TALENT
Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their bid to sign Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer.
The Red Devils are pursuing a path of snapping up promising youngsters, after landing wingers Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellestri over the past year.
Camavinga is already a full France international, despite only being 18 years of age, and is also wanted by Real Madrid.
However, the LaLiga giants are currently hampered by the financial implications of Covid-19, giving the Red Devils an advantage in the race for Camavinga’s signature.
Spanish outlet AS (as cited by Sport Witness) claims that Real are likely to miss out on the talented youngster, who has already decided to quit Rennes this summer.
The report adds that Camavinga ‘wants to continue his sporting progression and considers that playing the Champions League is essential’.
While both Real and United are expected to offer him that, the former will have to act quickly to get their man.
AS adds that the Premier League has emerged as a ‘strong’ option for the midfielder, with United and Chelsea on the lookout.
However, the Red Devils remain the frontrunners given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s preference for giving younger players a chance to shine.
United are also have continued doubts over Paul Pogba’s future, which leaves a potential spot for Camavinga to fill.
