Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd seriously tempted and a ‘viable option’ for elite, veteran star; Mata, Van de Beek cut-price exits

Manchester United want to sign a veteran star and use him as a mentor for a prodigious young talent, Thomas Tuchel is lamenting one of Frank Lampard’s last decisions at Chelsea, while Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims surprise moves are on the cards for Juan Mata and Donny van de Beek.

RONALDO RETURN ‘ON’ FOR MAN UTD

Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United could be set for a surprise reunion this summer after all, claim reports in Italy.

Juventus are currently weighing up wholesale changes to their side this summer after falling short in the Champions League.

The likes of Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa and Adrien Rabiot are all likely to move on. Indeed, Dybala is the subject of growing interest from Chelsea.

While Alvaro Morata looks like he’ll stay on for another season, Ronaldo’s situation remains less certain.

At 36 and their highest earner, Juve are considering offloading the veteran star to boost their coffers.

As per Tuttosport, a return to Real Madrid looks highly unlikely. However, they state a return to Old Trafford looks a ‘viable option’ with United still seeking a quality right-wing addition.

Efforts to land Jadon Sancho failed last summer, while bright young thing Amad Diallo arrived in January. He’s already made an impact, but remains tender in his years.

As such, it’s claimed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could look to bring Ronaldo back on a rolling one-year deal. However, United do not want to pay a substantial transfer fee for a player who is very much in the final years of his career.

But under the plan, his signing would allow Diallo time to develop and learn from one of the best ever.

Ronaldo spent six years at Old Trafford, winning three league titles and a Champions League, before moving to Real.

From Juventus’ point of view, one the players they are considering signing is Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann. The World Cup winner has been told he can leave for a fee of around €60m.
