Competition: League Two
Market: Tranmere Rovers win
Odds: 11/8 @ 888sport
In a showdown between two sides battling it out at opposite ends of the League Two table, Tranmere will make the trip to a struggling Colchester on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Colchester might have managed to pick up a much-needed 2-1 win against Carlisle when opening March, it appears that was just a minor bounce for the Essex strugglers. With some in their camp still looking over their shoulder at the drop zone and only continuing on what has been a hugely worrying run of form, The U’s were last seen over the weekend when getting hit with a 1-0 defeat against Port Vale. Collecting just a pair of points from their last five League Two matchups and with just a single win to their name since way back on December 8th, Colchester have also gained a reputation for their extended issues in front of goal. Once again drawing a blank against Port Vale at the JobServe Community Stadium, Tuesday’s hosts have failed to find the net in over 450 minutes of action.
As for the visitors, while Tranmere might have watched Sunderland lift the EFL Trophy at an empty Wembley earlier in the month, The Rovers would have been boosted by a professional display over the weekend. Extending their buffer in the play-off spots after landing a 2-1 win against fellow top-seven chasers Exeter, Keith Hill’s men will now have their sights set on trying to make an immediate return to League One this year. Opening up the midweek fixtures with just their goal difference keeping them outside the top-three, Tranmere have collected seven points from their last three fourth-tier contests. Smelling a real chance away at Colchester this week, Hill’s side should also be boosted by their most recent meeting against the relegation outsiders. Landing a 2-0 win when they faced off against Tuesday’s hosts back in 2019, we’re backing a similar outcome.
