Manchester United are ready to make a surprise swoop for a Championship star, Man City are set to sign a Juventus midfielder, while Saturday’s transfer gossip reckons Newcastle will launch a raid for a popular Celtic defender.
SARR ON MAN UTD RADAR
Manchester United have put plans in place to sign Ismaila Sarr in a £40m deal this summer, a report has claimed.
The Watford man was a target for both United and Liverpool last summer after the Hornets were relegated. However, Liverpool moved for Diogo Jota instead, while United went for relative unknown Amad Diallo.
However, the Daily Express reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still wants to recruit another winger this summer – and Sarr could be that man.
They claim that Jadon Sancho still remains their top target, though his £90m-£100m asking price looks prohibitive.
But a deal for Sarr could be struck, with United having held talks last summer over a deal. Indeed, Watford’s former technical director has revealed just how close a deal was.
Filippo Giraldi, speaking to the Here We Go podcast, says Sarr is someone that United have followed closely this season.
“We were extremely close, I was personally negotiating with them,” he said.
“We weren’t able to reach an agreement. And I think Ismaila is very young, he will arrive for sure.
“You see fast wingers becoming more and more important in physical leagues like the Premier League.
“I remember last year against Manchester United and Liverpool, he was the one with Gerard Deulofeu on the other side affecting the game and deciding the game every time.”
Sarr has scored nine goals and registered nine assists this season with Watford currently second in the Championship.
