Arsenal given solid chance of signing Fiorentina striker seen as a ‘treasure’

Arsenal reportedly fancy their chances of signing Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer, amid claims the Serie A side may be forced to sell.

The 21-year-old frontman has attracted plenty of attention this season after emerging as La Viola’s first choice No 9. Vlahovic, who joined from Partizan Belgrade as a teenager in 2018, has notched 12 goals and two assists in 27 Serie A games this term.

Scouts from Spurs and Roma are known to have been watching the forward. However, last week it was also claimed that Milan have now joined the battle for his signature.

Detailing his progress, Italian outlet Calciomercato have described Vlahovic as a ‘treasure’ for La Viola, adding his value ‘cannot be underestimated’.

They report that as well as the aforementioned, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig and now Arsenal are also in the hunt to sign him.

Furthermore, they state of his six suitors, the Gunners have a genuine chance of adding Vlahovic to their ranks. They report technical director Edu has identified the Serbian as the man he wants to come into their attack should Alexandre Lacazette depart.

Lacazette has just a year left on his deal this summer and appears destined to leave. The likes of Atletico Madrid and Sevilla have been touted as destinations. However, reports at the weekend claimed Edu could use him as a makeweight in a deal to sign a talented Real Betis playmaker.

In addition, financial pressures could force Fiorentina to cash in on their star man. Despite that, Calciomercato claims the Serie A outfit would still hold firm to their €30m valuation of the player.

Bellerin tipped for exit

Hector Bellerin is likely to leave Arsenal this summer for a new challenge, claims Bacary Sagna.

Bellerin is one of Arsenal’s longest-serving players, having made his senior debut in 2013. Still only 26, there have been doubts about the Spaniard’s future.

Vice-captain Bellerin remains an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s team. However, claims arose last month that the full-back had an agreement in place with his boss to leave at the end of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain have been credited with an interest, while hometown club Barcelona may make an effort to sign him.

“It’s nothing to do with the club, nothing to do with winning cups or whatever. At some point if you want to progress, in my mind you need to go somewhere and challenge yourself. You need to start from zero again. This is how I felt.

“Arsenal was my club and is still my beloved club. But after seven years I had the feeling that because I was part of the house, even when I didn’t deserve to play, I would have played.

“It’s quite tricky as a player. Hector’s still young; he still has five good years to play at the top level and he can do it. So, if he left now, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
