Paper Talk: Prem powerhouse added to five-man Liverpool transfer wishlist; Tottenham in shock decision about star’s exit

Liverpool have five options to strengthen their defence this summer, including some familiar faces, while Tottenham have firmed up their plans for one of their most experienced players – all in the latest transfer gossip.

Liverpool have a five-man shortlist to sign a new defender this summer, including current loanee Ozan Kabak.

That’s according to the Daily Mirror, who reveal that defensive reinforcements are still very much in the minds of Anfield transfer chiefs.

Liverpool were forced into action in January after injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. They decided to sign Kabak on loan from Schalke and Ben Davies from Preston.

Davies is yet to play due to injury issues of his own, but Kabak has featured fairly regularly. Now, Liverpool will have to ponder using their option to buy him.

But he is not the only name on their radar. Interest in RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate has recently emerged, even if the player and his current club have played it down.

The Mirror mention him as one of four options in addition to Kabak, though.

One of the preferred options on the shortlist is Brighton’s Ben White, due to his homegrown status. Liverpool are known to have tracked the 23-year-old during his loan spell with Leeds last season and he is still being watched.

Another long-term target for Liverpool is Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car. He was an option in January, but no move eventually materialised.

But a new target in consideration is Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu. Kabak’s international teammate with Turkey has impressed since essentially replacing Harry Maguire at the King Power Stadium.

Now, Liverpool are said to be keen on a move for the 24-year-old, who has been in the Premier League since 2018.
