According to a recent report from Liverpool Echo, Everton have informed James Rodriguez that he will not play a role in the first team this season.
Last season we saw Rodriguez really burst into life in the Premier League under Carlo Ancelotti thanks to a string of impressive performances across the first few games. Alas, things seemed to tail off in the second half of the season with constant speculation mounting regarding whether or not the Toffees would still want to keep him on the books after Ancelotti’s departure.
Rodriguez is still a world class talent in his own right but if there are better options out there for him, perhaps across the rest of the Premier League, it only makes sense for him to grab them with both hands.
Either way, Goodison Park doesn’t appear to be in his future – which is a real shame given how this project started.
