Real Madrid welcome Getafe to the Bernabeu as Carlo Ancelotti’s side look to continue their inexorable march towards the La Liga title.
Los Blancos put themselves in a commanding position for their Champions League quarter-final return leg against Chelsea next week after a Karim Benzema hat-trick downed the Premier League outfit in a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge.
However, Ancelotti’s side were less than convincing in their previous La Liga outing at Celta Vigo and they will face a stiff test against a Getafe side who ended their six-game winless run with a 1-0 win over Mallorca last time out.
Here’s everything you need to know about the game.
When is kick off? Saturday 9 April, 20:00 (BST)
Where is the match being played? Santiago Bernabeu
TV channel/live stream? La LigaTV (UK), ESPN+ (US)
Highlights? La Liga YouTube channel
Referee? Cesar Soto Grado
VAR? Jose Luiz Gonzalez Gonzalez
With the return leg against Chelsea in the Champions League forthcoming in midweek, Ancelotti may introduce the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo into the starting lineup.
One player who will definitely not feature is Eden Hazard after his season was ended prematurely by an ankle injury, while Eder Militao is a doubt after he was forced off injured in the second half at Stamford Bridge.
Borja Mayoral was the matchwinner for Getafe last time out and he could be given the nod by Quique Sanchez Flores at the Bernabeu this weekend.
Carles Alena, formerly of Barcelona, was also a standout in midfield in the win over Mallorca, while Enes Unal will be keen to bounce back after a second half penalty miss.
The remit is clear for Real Madrid in their pursuit of La Liga, with last weekend’s 2-1 victory at Celta Vigo providing the perfect tonic to the Clasico humbling by Barcelona.
Seven games remain for Ancelotti’s side and, while the Italian may have one eye on the return leg with Chelsea, expect Los Blancos to treat this weekend’s clash with the utmost respect.
Prediction: Real Madrid 2-0 Getafe
